Meeting of the Playing

1. APOLOGIES:
Apologies
were received from Cllr Caroline Mosley, Cllr Peter Griffiths, Cllr John Butler
and Cllr Theresa Bartliff and Cllr Bryan Smith.
Resolved: that the apologies be noted.
2. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:
No
declarations were received.
3. TO RECEIVE A REPORT ON PLAY AREAS:
The
Clerk reported that she had received a email from the
City Council with regard to a complaint from a local resident about the puddle
of water that forms at the main gate to the play area. She also reported to Members that the play
surfacing under the swing at Greenfields was in need
of repair.
The
Clerk reported that the City Council had rejected the grant application for the
additional works to the wildlife area at Chemistry Pits area and that there was
a shortfall of around £450 to complete the works. She also advised that the enhancement works
were likely to take place in Spring 2007.
Cllr
Pat Lott asked if there was any further news on the play area on
Resolved: (a) that the Clerk
would arrange for extra paving slabs to be placed at the entrance to the play
area.
(b) that the
repairs to the safety surfacing at Greenfields be
held over until the new year when further details of the future of the area
were known.
(c) that the Clerk
apply to the Area Committee for £450 to complete the enhancement of the
wildlife area at Chemistry Pits.
(d) that the Clerk
contact the City Council to ascertain if any decisions had been made with
regard to the play area on
4. CHARGES FOR USE OF FACILITIES AT THE PAVILION:
The
Clerk reported on the information she had obtained with regard to the charges
made for tennis, bowls and football by the City Council. Members compared these to the charge
currently being made at
Resolved: that the following amendments be made to the charges:
Tennis Adults £4.50 per court for hour
Children
to remain the same at £1.50
Family £3.00 for
group consisting of at least one adult and one child.
Bowls Season Ticket Residents of Parish £12
Other £20
Football To remain the same
Members
discussed the charges for use of the Pavilion building. The Clerk reported that other Parish
Council’s and the Village Hall charges were considerably higher. Members considered the disrepair of the
building and indicated that higher charges could be introduced in the future if
the renovation of the building went ahead.
Resolved: that the charges for the use of the Pavilion remain the same.
5. LEASE OF GREENFIELDS:
The
Chairman reported that she had arranged a meeting with Chester & District
Housing Trust to discuss the future of the area. The meeting was attended by The Chairman and
Clerk and John Denny of CDHT and Dr Martin Carey of Urban Hope. The Chairman reported that there appeared to
be a lot of interest in looking at making changes to the area and that the CDHT
were keen to also involve the Parish Council.
The Chairman also reported that during the meeting she had mentioned the
Parish Council’s proposals for the Pavilion and both Mr Denny & Dr Carey
agreed that they would like to get involved with the project in any way that
they could. The Chairman informed
Members that a meeting had been arranged for 20th December with a
small group of Members and Dr Carey. Dr
Carey had also agreed to give a presentation to the full Parish Council on
either 11th or
Resolved: that the Clerk contact all Members and ascertain
when Members which evening more Members would be available and then arrange the
meeting for that date.
