5. PARISH
COUNCIL MEETING
Buses
on
The
Clerk reported on the response from Engineering Service with regard the traffic
study on A41.
Resolved: that the Clerk would contact the Engineering Service to
re-iterate that if the buses were moved to County Officers Sports Club entrance
then it would have an impact on the traffic
study. That the Clerk also remind
the Engineering Service that this matter had been ongoing for three years still without a solution.
Rails
at Chemistry Pits Play Area
The
Clerk reported that she had received a quotation of £250 to shorten and
re-locate the rails at the entrance to the play area to allow wheelchair and
pushchair access. Members discussed the
ownership of the alleyway and the possibility that the Parish Council could
take over ownership. Cllr Peter Griffiths asked the meeting if the gates could be moved to
the other end of the alleyway if the Parish Council owned the lane.
Resolved: (a) that the Clerk
contact the Parish Council Solicitor to ascertain if it was possible to take
ownership of the land.
(b)
that the Clerk make enquires as to the feasibility and
cost of moving the gates.
School
Governors
The
Clerk reported that she had contacted the Education Department and been told
that after September 2005 Parish Council’s would no longer have a right to have
a representative on the Board of Governors at local schools. Members discussed the fact that schools very
often had difficulty filling governor places and that local schools may still
welcome the Parish Council putting Members forward for governorship.
Resolved: that the Clerk write to the Education Department to offer
representatives if they were needed.
Bollard
at Upton Youth Club
The
Clerk reported that she had obtained a quotation of around £100 plus fitting
costs to replace the bollard at the entrance to the field by Upton Youth Club.
Resolved: that the Clerk go ahead and order the bollard and its fitting.
Removal
of Telephone Box at Meadowsway
The
Clerk reported on the reply from BT Communications with regard this matter.
