UPTON BY CHESTER & DISTRICT PARISH COUNCIL

Meeting of the Upton by Chester and District Parish Council held

on Monday 16th May 2005, at Upton Heath County Primary School, Upton Lane, Upton, Chester

                       

PRESENT:    

Cllr. Jean Evans (Chairman), Cllr David Capstick, Cllr. John Cliffe,

Cllr. Daphne Coles, Cllr David Evans, Cllr Gerald Grant, Cllr Peter Griffiths,

Cllr Patricia Lott, Cllr Caroline Mosley, Cllr Chris Reeve, Cllr Bryan Smith,

and Cllr Robert Thompson.

 

1.         OPEN FORUM:

No local residents were present.

 

2.         APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE:

Apologies were received from Cllr Gill Jordan, Cllr Phil Pearn, Cllr Liz Warrington and Cllr Geoff Edwards.

Resolved:       that the absence is noted.

 

3.         DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST IN ITEMS ON THE AGENDA:      

No declarations of interest were received.

 

4.         APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN FOR THE ENSUING YEAR:

 

It was proposed by Cllr Peter Griffiths and seconded by Cllr Gerald Grant that

Cllr Jean Evans be appointed Chairman for the ensuing year.  No other nominations

were received.

 

Resolved:       that Cllr Jean Evans be appointed Chairman of the Parish Council for the ensuing year.

 

5.       CHAIRMAN’S DECLARATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICE:

 

Resolved:       that the Charman’s Declaration of Acceptance of Office be received.

 

6.        APPOINTMENT OF VICE-CHAIRMAN FOR THE ENSUING YEAR:

 

It was proposed by Cllr David Evans and seconded by Cllr Chris Reeve that Cllr

Robert Thompson be appointed Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council for the ensuing

year.  There were no other nominations.

 

Resolved:       that Cllr Robert Thompson be appointed Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council for the ensuing year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

7.       APPOINTMENT OF SCHOOL GOVERNORS:

 

The Clerk reported on the current situation:

 

                        Upton Heath County Primary    -           Cllr Jean Evan until May 2009

                        Mill View County Primary         -           Hamish Smith until Sept 2008

                        Acresfield County Primary        -           Cllr Geoff Edwards until Jan 09

                        Westlea County Primary           -           Ron Roberts until Nov 2005

 

Members discussed the vacancy at Westlea in November 2005.

 

Resolved:       (a)        that the Clerk contact Ron Roberts to ascertain if he wanted to continue.

                        (b)        that the Clerk contact the Education Department to ascertain if minor authorities were still to be represented at Westlea County             Primary.
