UPTON BY CHESTER & DISTRICT PARISH COUNCIL

Meeting of the Environment Committee of the Upton by Chester & District Parish Council held on Monday 8th June 2009 at the Pavilion, Wealstone Lane.

Present:          Cllr Jean Evans (Chairman), Cllr Theresa Bartliff, Cllr John Butler, Cllr Gerald Grant, Cllr Gill Jordan, Cllr Pat Lott, Cllr Chris Reeve,

 

1.         APOLOGIES:

Resolved:       Apologies were received from Cllr Bryan Smith and Cllr Robert Thompson

 

2.         CHAIRMAN FOR ENSUNG YEAR:

It was proposed by Cllr Chris Reeve and seconded by Cllr Gill Jordan that Cllr Jean Evans be elected Chairman for the ensuing year.  No other nominations were received.

 

Resolved:       that Cllr Jean Evans be elected Chairman of the Committee for the ensuing year.

 

3.         DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST:

No declarations of interest were received.

 

4.         REPORT ON PLAY AREAS:

The Clerk reported on the play areas owned and managed by the Parish Council. 

Resolved:       that the reports be noted.

                                   

5.         BENCH FOR BUS SHLETER AT THE BACHE:

The Chairman reported that a local resident had suggested putting a small bench in the bus shelter at the Bache.  The Clerk reported that a bench made from recyclable plastic would cost in the region of £250 to install.  Members discussed the possibility of having a bench made and fixed to the bus shelter.

Resolved:       that the Clerk obtain a quotation for making a bench.

 

6.         ALLOTMENTS:      

The Clerk told Members that she had had problems getting information about providing

allotments and gave Members the small amount of information she had.  Some

Members gave the Clerk details of other Parish Councils who ran allotment schemes

and a contact in the local authority.

Resolved:       that the Clerk follow up the contacts given to get more information.

 

7.         NEW SIGNAGE FOR THE CAR PARK AT WEALSTONE LANE:

The Clerk reported that she had been advised by the Cheshire Associations of Local Councils that as the sign would be on Parish Council land there were no restrictions except for permission from Highways if near the roadway.  CHaLC also advised that the sign should be formal rather than being designed by young people.  Members also discussed having a designated pedestrian route painted on the car park.

Resolved:       (a)        that the Clerk speak to Highways about availability of a sign and also the possibility and cost of marking a route on the car park.

                        (b)        that the wording of the sign be discussed by Cllr Jean Evans,Cllr Pat Lott and the Clerk.

8.         SIGNAGE FOR THE TENNIS COURTS:

Members discussed erecting a sign at the tennis courts to warn players about the surface being slippery when wet.

Resolved:       that Cllr Jean Evans, Cllr Pat Lott and the Clerk discuss the wording for the sign.

 

9.         DATE OF NEXT MEETING:

Resolved:       that the date be set at a later time.
